Roanoke City Democratic Committee to Hold Firehouse Primary February 4, 2012 The Roanoke City Democratic Committee voted to conduct its upcoming firehouse primary (unassembled caucus) on Saturday, February 4, 2012 between the hours of 9AM and 3PM a William Fleming High School. The primary will be held to determine the Democratic nominees for the office of Mayor of Roanoke and for three seats on Roanoke City Council. Any persons interested in running in the primary must file a declaration of candidacy by January 27, 2012 at 5PM and pay a $750 filing fee. The mailing address is 2111 Carter Rd. Roanoke, VA 24015. This primary is open to all voters registered in Roanoke City. Before participating in the primary, voters shall sign a standardized declaration form stating that he or she is a Democrat, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuring general election.
