March 12 McCain Questions

Questions of the Day for John McCain

March 12, 2008

New Hampshire

1. Did any lobbyists ask McCain or his staff to send his letters to the Department of Defense pressuring them to ignore unfair subsidies that EADS receives from European governments?

2. Why did John McCain's spokesperson tell the Associated Press that McCain sent his letters to the Department of Defense before campaign aides Tom Loeffler, John Green and Susan Nelson were hired by EADS when in fact Green has been working for EADS since 2003 and working on tanker issue since 2005?

3. Why should voters trust McCain to fight to keep jobs in America when he has worked hard to make it easier for the Pentagon to outsource defense jobs? What is McCain's plan for promoting jobs growth?

McCain Spokesperson: "They never lobbied him related to the issues, and the letters went out before they were contracted" by EADS. [AP, 3/11/08

Green Lobbied for EADS Beginning in 2003. From March 2003 until the end of 2007, John Green lobbied on behalf of EADS North America, earning Ogilvy Government Relations/Federalist Group $1,080,000. Green's 2005 Reports Specifically List "Next Generation Aerial Tanker" as a Lobbying Issue.
