New Video: George Allen's Empty Rhetoric and False Attacks Won't Avoid Sequester Cuts

Richmond, VA - Today the Democratic Party of Virginia released a new video holding former Senator George Allen accountable for his empty rhetoric and false attacks on the looming defense sequestration cuts.

Allen has made last summer's bipartisan budget deal that would force draconian cuts in defense and domestic spending a centerpiece of his campaign, but as numerous media reports state, his discussion of avoiding those cuts lacks any details and his attacks on Governor Tim Kaine are simply false.

"George Allen spends a lot of time talking and launching false attacks about the defense cuts, but he has yet to articulate a concrete plan to avoid them," said DPVA Communications Director Brian Coy. "His plan is so empty the few ideas he does have, like repealing the Affordable Care Act and instituting a flat tax, would actually add to the deficit according to independent experts. 

"Virginians need real leadership in the Senate to avoid these looming cuts and balance the budget responsibly. We can't afford another six years of George Allen's 'all hat, no cattle,' empty rhetoric."
