Moran Statement on the Passing of House Clerk Bruce Jamerson
Richmond, VA – Democratic Party of Virginia Chairman Brian Moran released the following statement on the passing of Bruce Jamerson, the Clerk of the Virginia House of Delegates:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of one of the most dedicated and professional public servants I have ever known. Bruce Jamerson had the unenviable job of keeping 100 unruly Virginia Delegates organized and on task day after day, and he performed that duty with a grace and humor that were uniquely his own.
“I spent 12 years in the House working with Bruce and benefitting from his unmatched knowledge of the legislative process. His patient smile was always ready to help legislators who knew what they wanted to do, but didn’t yet know how to do it. I think every Delegate remembers Bruce as the person who welcomed us to the House and led us through what would otherwise have been an overwhelming experience.
“On behalf of the Democratic Party of Virginia, I want to express my heartfelt condolences to Bruce’s family and friends as they cope with this tragic loss. He was a great leader for this Commonwealth, but more importantly he was a good man and a great friend to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.”
