Virginia Democrats Set for Success in November
Posted by Greg on Wednesday, June 13
Tuesday night set the stage for Democratic wins in the November elections, with a slate of candidates across the Commonwealth emerging from the primaries who are committed to taking action and solving the problems Virginians want Richmond to tackle.
"The results of the primary are a reflection of the momentum we've been generating in the Commonwealth," commented Democratic Party of Virginia Chairman Richard Cranwell. "Looking at the returns, it looks like we're going to have a team to continue that momentum."
While Democrats gear up to tackle problems like highway gridlock in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia, expand early education and raise the minimum wage, Tuesday left Republicans without a Chairman and without a positive agenda to promote this fall.
"It looks like the Republicans are in complete disarray," said Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple. "Their chairman is departing and the more extreme, partisan elements of their party are taking over."
