Tom Davis covers for the White House

Back when Rep. Tom Davis was the chairman of the House Government Reform Committee, he readily acknowledged that "Republican Congresses tend to overinvestigate Democratic administrations and underinvestigate their own." [Washington Post, 12/18/05]

But rest assured, if he wouldn't hold the President accountable then, he certainly won't be starting now.

Last month, former CIA officer Valerie Plame testified before Davis' committee (now chaired by Rep. Henry Waxman) about the leaking of her identity. In his opening statement, Davis claimed that it "looks to me more like a CIA problem than a White House problem."

No doubt this comes as welcome news to Scooter Libby.
