Tom Davis, conflicted

Posted by Greg on Friday, May 11

As Raising Kaine points out, Rep. Tom Davis had an interesting change of heart during yesterday's House vote on Iraq.

See, earlier in the week, Davis took part in a "blunt" meeting with at the White House with some fellow congressional Republicans, at one point revealing that the president's approval rating had sunk to 5 percent in parts of the 11th district.

But last night, Davis and the rest of Virginia's Republican delegation voted against a plan that would have required the Bush administration to report on progress in achieving specific benchmarks on the war.

For a congressman who think that "the status quo is not acceptable," it seems Davis would rather have it both ways.
