The Case of the Mystery PACs: Solved!

Earlier this month, we linked to a press release from the Center for Responsive Politics that was trying to identify several "mystery PACS" - political action committees created by unknown members of Congress. Lawmakers, you see, are not required to disclose their affiliation with leadership PACs, so many set them up to raise and disperse funds apart from their own campaign committee.

As it turned out, the only member of Virginia's congressional delegation to accept this mystery money was 2nd District Rep. Thelma Drake, who collected a total of $2,500 from Bill PAC, the Serving America's Citizens PAC, and the Palmetto Freedom PAC.

Well, now that a few weeks have passed, it seems that the puzzle has been solved. So, who's funding Thelma Drake?

Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA) (unconfirmed)

Serving America's Citizens PAC:
Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA)

Palmetto Freedom PAC:
Rep. J. Gresham Barrett (R-SC) (unconfirmed)
