DEMOCRATS MEET FILING DEADLINE FOR U.S. SENATE AND CONGRESSIONAL RACES

 

Richmond- As of 5:00 pm today (Friday, April 11, 2008) the following candidates filed official papers for the November 4, 2008 elections:

2nd Congressional District

Glenn Nye

 

3rd Congressional District

Rep. Bobby Scott

 

7th Congressional District

Anita Hartke

 

8th Congressional District

Rep. Jim Moran

Matthew Famiglietti

 

10th Congressional District

Judy Feder

Mike Turner

 

11th Congressional District

Hon. Gerry Connolly

Hon. Leslie Byrne

Lori Alexander

Doug Denneny

 

"All signs point to an exciting and successful year for Democrats and for Virginia families as a result," said Democratic Party of Virginia Executive Director, Levar Stoney. "With two excellent presidential candidates and Mark Warner topping the ticket, Virginia's families can finally look forward to some relief after eight years of George Bush."

 

Virginia law states that there will be no primary in races "when less than two candidates declare." For those Congressional races with more than one candidate, the primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, 2008.

 

The DPVA will certify all its candidates by 5:00 pm Wednesday, April 16.
