Building Locally
Posted by Brandon on Wednesday, March 26
Last week I attended the Scott County Democratic Committee’s monthly meeting and potluck dinner. Scott County is proof of the results we can accomplish when we work locally to build the Democratic Party. As we prepare for 2008, it is important to remember these lessons about the power of working locally.
Five years ago, Democrats in Scott County joined together to elect 6 Democratic members of the Board of Supervisors. Last year, Scott County Democrats working together were able to elect a Democratic Sheriff and re-elect all 6 Democratic members of the Board of Supervisors. When we work locally for the Democratic Party we can make big things happen.
In 2008 the Democratic Party is launching the Neighborhood Leader Program, which gives YOU a chance to work locally for our Democratic candidates. As a Neighborhood Leader you will have access to online tools to create your own voter contact lists, scripts, and make your own materials. The best part is that as a Neighborhood Leader you have a chance to talk to people in your own community, at a time that is most convenient for you, and in your own voice. You can sign-up today to be a Neighborhood Leader at http://www.vademocrats.org/page/s/nlsignup.
Countless observers have characterized this November’s Elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, and President as the most important in a generation. Sometimes it is easy to get lost in the enormity of these campaigns. Let us remember that while these are big elections they all start locally in our own communities. Join today to be a part of our local effort as a Neighborhood Leader at http://www.vademocrats.org/page/s/nlsignup.

The Neighborhood Leader Program is great! I’m so glad to see the DNC and DPVA focusing on grass roots organization. That’s how we’re going to win elections year after year!
Thanks Brandon, for helping to publicize this tool.
