New York Attack Dog: Bob McDonnell's Model of Bipartisanship?

DPVA releases video showing Giuliani's true colors

NEW YORK CITY - In his latest attempt to reinvent himself as a bipartisan, GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell lavished praise on Rudy Giuliani for bipartisanship - despite Giuliani's virulent attacks on President Barack Obama.

In a video released Wednesday, McDonnell called Giuliani a model for "working across the aisle with Democrats and Republicans to get things done."

But Giuliani's last turn in the spotlight was a harshly partisan speech at the Republican National Convention, during which Giuliani "mocked and belittled senator Barack Obama's experience as a community organizer" and repeatedly attacked President-elect Obama's career (CNN, 9/4/08).

In honor of McDonnell's New York City fundraiser with Giuliani Thursday, the Democratic Party of Virginia released a response video of the highlights of the speech by McDonnell's model of bipartisanship, posted below.

"If Bob McDonnell suddenly wants to become a bipartisan leader, he ought to look to better role models than Rudy Giuliani," said Jared Leopold, Communications Director for the Democratic Party for Virginia. "In November, Virginians sent a clear mandate that rejected Rudy Giuliani and John McCain's style of attack-dog politics. It seems like Bob McDonnell just didn't get the message."
