Bob McDonnell: No Plan, No Vision and now NO COMMENT on Transportation
This Sunday's Richmond Times-Dispatch asked Attorney General Bob McDonnell to discuss his plans and visions for solutions to our transportation crisis as a candidate for Governor in 2009. According to the story, "Bob McDonnell, who says a statewide tax increase is not justified, was unavailable for comment Friday."
The party of NO strikes again - this time it's no comment. McDonnell was likely unavailable for comment Friday because of his Thursday night fundraiser with former Presidential candidate Fred Thompson. [Virginian-Pilot, 6/26/08]
"First he has no plan and no vision for solving our transportation crisis and now he has no comment," said Democratic Party of Virginia Executive Director Levar Stoney. "How can he want to be Governor of Virginia if he can't offer real solutions to the transportation crisis?"
McDonnell himself has acknowledged that he has no "particular plan or vision" for how he would meet the state's transportation needs. [Richmond Times-Dispatch, 3/26/08]
The Times-Dispatch did acknowledge McDonnell's band-aid solution, auditing the Virginia Department of Transportation. This gimmick has been roundly rejected and discredited by newspapers across the Commonwealth as a "delaying tactic," an "excuse for sloth" and a "smokescreen for do-nothing members of the GOP."
