A whopper from Dave Hunt

We’ve seen plenty of candidates change their positions on abuser fees this year. And most of them will reluctantly admit that they’ve done so.

Dave Hunt, on the other hand, tries a different approach this week: downright deceit.

Hunt denies supporting the ‘abuser fees,’ which were included as part of a massive state transportation bill the General Assembly passed earlier this year… ‘I’ve stated that I would vote to repeal those abuser fees; that’s been my position for the last month and a half,’ Hunt said. (The Fairfax County Times, 8/28/07)

The problem?

Hunt sent a series of mailers sent to local homes in July, specifically including abuser fees as one of the main components of his transportation agenda.

Earlier in the year, Hunt told The Times he supported the 2007 transportation plan “without qualification.” (The Fairfax County Times, 3/20/07)
