A Fair Day’s Pay for a Hard Day’s Work? Only If Your Name is John Welch.

Poor John Welch. He claims he’s “losing” money when he’s “up in Richmond.” [Virginian-Pilot, 9/29/03] Things are so bad this year that he voted to up his per diem to $135 a day. [HB1650, 2/8/07, 2/24/07]

We might have felt bad for the lawmaker… until we learned he voted against passing a minimum wage increase this year.

It seems the same John Welch who believes he’s entitled to $135 a day for casting votes, believes Virginians aren’t worth $6.50 an hour their hard work. [SB1327, 2/20/07]
