Meet the Staff

Tyler Anderson, Finance Director Tyler joined the DPVA in December 2013. He began his career in politics as Field Organizer for the President's re-election campaign in Wisconsin. He served as Northern Virginia Regional Finance Director during the McAuliffe for Governor campaign and then as the Deputy Finance Director for the Govenor's Inaugural committee. Tyler is an Arlington, VA native and attended the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. ext. 2013

Thomas Buneo, Chief Operating Officer Tom joined the DPVA in February 2014. A New York native, Tom completed his Masters of Public Policy at George Mason University in 2013 and spent two years working at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Tom is an Arlington, VA resident who likes to go running and travel.

Chris Bolling, Statewide Field Director  Chris joined the Chris is a seasoned veteran in Virginia Politics starting as a Field Director for Obama 2008 , then Regional Field Director for the party in both 2013 and 14 cycles and now overseeing the entire state as Coordinated Field Director.  Chris lives in Richmond and grabs a clipboard and walksheets and canvasses just for fun on the weekends. 

Stephen Carter, Communications Director  Stephen is instrumental in ensuring the DPVA's message reaches voters through earned, paid, and online media. He brings nearly a decade of experience advising candidates and elected officials on developing and implementing aggressive communications strategies. Before joining the DPVA, Stephen served as a senior advisor on legislative and communications matters for a Member of Congress. As a Regional Press Secretary at the DCCC, he wrote and enacted communications plans for over a dozen competitive Congressional races across the country. Stephen is also a teacher and performer in Washington D.C.’s improv comedy community where he is extremely hilarious. ext. 1005

Morgan Finkelstein, Press Secretary Morgan Finkelstein comes to the DPVA after working on Governor McAuliffe's Inaugural Committee and traveling the world as part of the White House Advance team. Her previous press experience includes President Obama's re-election campaign in North Carolina and time on the Hill. She is a Sarasota, Florida native and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. ext 1006

Shyam Raman, Deputy Data Director Shyam joined the DPVA in June 2015 after graduating from the University of Nebraska. Shyam began his political career as an Intern on a Senate campaign in Iowa. Later, in the fall of 2014, Shyam was a Field Organizer for the Iowa Democratic Coordinated Campaign in Des Moines. Following the election, Shyam returned to Nebraska to finish his last semester and intern for the Nebraska Democratic Party. Shyam is a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoys watching soccer and playing golf. ext. 1002

Becca Slutzky, Executive Director  Rebecca is a native Virginian, having grown up in Charlottesville and is a veteran of both Virginia and national campaigns. She worked as a Regional Field Director for Hillary Clinton in 2008, Terry McAuliffe for Governor in 2009, Deeds for Governor 2009 and most recently managed a successful California statewide ballot initiative, Proposition 47, which implemented social justice reform.  Rebecca has a political science degree from Virginia Tech and a law degree from Santa Clara Law, Santa Clara, California. ext. 1003  

Brenner Tobe, Deputy Executive Dir / IT-Data  Brenner has been working to help elect Democrats for the past 20 years.  Having served as the State IT Advisor for the DNC, Brenner came to Virginia in 2001 to implement one of the first statewide online voter files in the country for Mark Warner’s campaign. Since then, he has continued to bring new, innovative and technological tools to help our candidates meet the changing demands of today’s campaigns.   Brenner lives in Richmond with his wife Kelly, and daughters Caroline, Isabelle, and Annika. 804-644-1966 ext. 1001 

Monica Wiley, Office Manager Monica began her career in Politics as a Political Outreach Organizer for the 2008 Coordinated Campaign. She was the only paid Organizer with a disAbility.  After the campaign, Miss Wiley served as Field Organizer with President Obama’s grassroots organization, Organizing for America in the Greater Richmond Area. Miss Wiley served as President of the disAbility Issues Caucus (2010-2012). Miss Wiley loves to shop and travel. Miss Wiley is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. 804-644-1966 ext. 1015 

Kees Nordin, Party Affairs Manager and Assistant to the Executive Director

Kees joined the DPVA in June 2015. A Kentucky native with family ties in Virginia, Kees spent the last two years working for James Carville in New Orleans. Before working for James, Kees worked on campaigns in Washington, Kentucky, and New York. Kees graduated from Hobart College with a degree in Political Science and the only thing he loves as much as politics is sports. 804-644-1966 ext. 1004
