Meet the Staff
Robert Dempsey, Executive Director Robert is a veteran Democratic campaign manager and has held a variety of positions in a number of states over the past 15 years. Robert began working in electoral politics in 1999 when he was part of the team that elected Mike Coleman mayor of Columbus, Ohio. He went on to hold senior level positions on campaigns in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida before returning to Ohio to work for Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur in the 2004 cycle. He then went on to work for the Ohio Senate Democratic Campaign Committee in 2006 and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2008. Robert has previously held the position of Executive Director with two other state parties, the Vermont Democratic Party in the 2010 cycle and the North Carolina Democratic Party in 2013. For the 2012 cycle, he successfully managed the campaign of Scott Peters in California's 52nd Congressional District, turning that seat blue for the first time in its history. Brenner Tobe, IT, Data and Analytics Brenner has been working to help elect Democrats for the past 20 years. Having served as the State IT Advisor for the DNC, Brenner came to Virginia in 2001 to implement one of the first statewide online voter files in the country for Mark Warner’s campaign. Since then, he has continued to bring new, innovative and technological tools to help our candidates meet the changing demands of today’s campaigns. Brenner lives in Richmond with his wife Kelly, and daughters Caroline, Isabelle, and Annika.
Monica Wiley, Staff Administrator Monica began her career in Politics as a Political Outreach Organizer for the 2008 Coordinated Campaign. She was the only paid Organizer with a disAbility. After the campaign, Miss Wiley served as Field Organizer with President Obama’s grassroots organization, Organizing for America in the Greater Richmond Area. Miss Wiley served as President of the disAbility Issues Caucus (2010-2012). Miss Wiley loves to shop and travel. Tyler Anderson, Finance Director Tyler joined the DPVA in December 2013. He began his career in politics as Field Organizer for the President's re-election campaign in Wisconsin. He served as Northern Virginia Regional Finance Director during the McAuliffe for Governor campaign and then as the Deputy Finance Director for the Govenor's Inaugural committee. Brill O'Brien, Party Services Director Brill has been working in the political department of the DPVA since 2012, having previously worked on campaigns with local committees throughout Northern Virginia. Brill has worked for 3 decades in the South on local, state and congressional campaigns and the Save Everglades campaign in FL. Thomas Buneo, Chief Operating Officer Tom joined the DPVA in February 2014. A New York native, Tom completed his Masters of Public Policy at George Mason University in 2013 and spent two years working at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Morgan Finkelstein, Press Secretary Morgan Finkelstein comes to the DPVA after working on Governor McAuliffe's Inaugural Committee and traveling the world as part of the White House Advance team. Her previous press experience includes President Obama's re-election campaign in North Carolina and time on the Hill.
